I have never appreciated Sabbath as the day of rest from our daily duties, as I have since we've started this job. Rest doesn't mean sleep as much as it means a different kind of activity. We really enjoyed Church in Grand Junction.
When we first walked in the door, Elder Goley came up and greeted us. He was the pastor at the Harper Church in the mid 1960's, where Jim grew up. He recongized Jim right away. Others knew people we knew. It was a friendly Church.
During the potluck lunch, Jim was able to talk to an ex-trucker that knows the mountains around here. He was able to give us an alternant route to our next town. The one we were going to take is very mountainous, with big ups and downs, lots of curves, two lane traffic, no guardrails and BIG drop offs. Anything else seems good. We'll see!!!!
This afternoon we got to see Mable Criswell. She is a lady that I've know at least 30 years from Kansas. She's about 92 now. Just recently she fell, so she's in a nursing home for rehab. She plans to be out in a couple weeks or eariler. Knowing her, she will be. She's very spunky and sharp.
We had a sale tonight from 8 - 10:00. They were done by about 9:15. Not much of a sale, compared to the number of people in the Church.
We're staying in the Church parking lot tonight. It's not my first choice, but it's really too late to go find a place, in the dark, hook up and be in bed before midnight
